About

The Old Hospital – WV5

This former Victorian Isolation Hospital for Scarlet Fever is now a large family home with an open-plan layout and a modern, stylish interior that sit perfectly alongside some restored and salvaged original features. An eclectic mix of statement lighting and some unusual colour combinations play a part in the unique back-drop. A large monochromatic kitchen and lounge space create the perfect neutral canvas. With 280sqm floor space and some ceilings at 3 metres high, the space has some impressive proportions. All floors throughout are hard floors, being either original Victorian timber, original quarry tiles, new wood floors or new geometric monochrome tiles. The Old Hospital is on the border of Shropshire, is set in half an acre of land and looks on to open countryside. There are two characterful outbuildings, dating back to pre 1900, that have been left in a raw, bare-brick state. The gardens are a blank canvas that are mostly not over-looked and are a perfect opportunity to create something special. More Details : The property is near to a very pretty canal tow-path. There is also a beautiful Victorian water pumping station, a disused railway (where a cafe is situated) and many narrow leafy lanes. There is a public right of way through the farmland opposite the house with sheep, horses and other animals and uninterrupted views across the open fields. There is an old brick-bridge over the stream nearby, surrounded by greenery. The location is next to the beautiful, historic village of Trysull, with stunning historic building and a church and graveyard and old fashioned pub, The Bell. Sainsburys is a short drive. As is the main village centre that has a petrol station, Co-op (with post office), Spar, a butchers, bakery, hardwear shop, a pub and cricket green. The nearest pub is The Round Oak which can be reached by foot via a cut-through off the Road or via the canal path - which is a lovely scenic walk. We are on the edge of Shropshire so are in reach of many beautiful villages and areas of interest, including National Trust locations (Wightwick Manor, and Dudmaston Hall), woodlands, steam railway etc. We are 15 minutes drive from the market town of Bridgenorth.

After 17 years in the fashion industry in London, I've been living out my dream for interiors, since having my first child and re-locating back to my rural roots. One epic renovation later, I am now the proud owner of a beautiful, historic family home and winner of The Daily Telegraph's 'Best Home & Renovation 2022'. A colour enthusiast, always in search of unusal things or to push the boundaries. Always keen to meet new people and to support and learn from other creatives.
