About
Contemporary Country Living - OX17
A thoughtfully designed self-build home in rural Oxfordshire, created and built by us nearly four years ago and ever evolving as a true passion project. The front elevation blends stone and soft render for a timeless, welcoming feel, while the rear and detached double garage introduce warm larch cladding and brickwork, giving the property a contemporary edge. A stone driveway leads you in, and the house is surrounded by greenery, creating privacy, softness and beautiful seasonal backdrops.
Inside, the heart of the home is a large open-plan living space anchored by a handmade Cherrywood Bespoke kitchen. It’s a considered mix of old and new - natural textures, layered tones and carefully chosen details sit alongside clean lines and modern craftsmanship. The space is light-filled throughout the day, with excellent natural flow for lifestyle and interior shoots.
There is a downstairs WC and a functional home gym featuring a squat rack, bench box and dumbbells - ideal for fitness, wellbeing or strength-based content.
Upstairs are three bedrooms, with the master being the most shoot-ready: spacious, calm and flooded with natural light, offering soft, neutral styling and generous proportions.
To the front and rear are gardens that feel relaxed and organic, with greenery framing views from every angle. The detached double garage includes a natural-light studio room with a bare plaster feature wall. This versatile space is regularly used as a therapy room by the homeowner and works beautifully for portraits, brand shoots and creative sessions.
Homeowner Jodie is a professional photographer and has used the property extensively for shoots, understanding exactly how the light moves and how the spaces function on camera. While there are always future plans on the wish list, Blue Gate House has reached a point where it feels ready to share - a characterful, design-led home with warmth, texture and quiet magic in every corner.
