About Historic Manor – SN16
A magestic period manor house, dating from the late 13th Century and additions in the Elizabethan period. It retains many original decorative features, and provides an impressive backdrop to many types of shoots.
The property boasts a fine reception drawing room on the first floor and an imposing chimney piece incorporating the coat of arms and crest of Richard Moody and quartered with those of his wife Catherine which dates from the 1550’s. Later the rooms had the addition of decorative plaster ceilings incorporating a pear tree motif. There have been a number of historical figures that have owned the house including members of the Washington family who’s coat of arms hang in the local church.
It is now a comfortable 9 bedroom family mansion with the addition of a fantastic modern pool area. The manor has an authentic design throughout, retaining wooden beams, an original archway leading into an ornate wooden staircase. There are several large reception rooms with original features offering a classic feel. The gardens are vast leading into the rolling hills of the quintessential English countryside. There are several large outhouses and a beautiful original stone wall surrounding the property.
